World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and damage from PvE.

For instance an item with the upgrade template ending in % will suffer an attack damage of 3% each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the level of the item increases.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into weapons, armor, and trinkets to give an additional stat boost or effect while they're in use. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment with a slot for them; the item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level in order for the component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied only once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a special type of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade could have a prefix or suffix that alters the name of the equipment with which it is used (for instancefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of that equipment using the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than are required to achieve the same upgrade level through normal methods.

A 'boost upgrade' can modify the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

The player can have the maximum of five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the likelihood that a better-quality version of the item will appear during the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're uncertain of how much it will improve after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it's possible that the item will be obsolete, or even break, if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that can double or even eliminate the chance of failure, as well as some upgrades that offer a bonus when reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, including any existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as possible up to 15 levels.

In the endgame you'll often discover that the best way to enhance your gear is by placing Glyphs. These are the only upgrade components which can be upgraded to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and re-place.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use and also through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the many Glyphs as well as also a few rare glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you will require them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that will boost a particular set of stat nodes within a radius around the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats depending on the Glyph.

Glyphs boost all nodes that are connected to them, so it is Best item upgrade to place Glyphs in key spots on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For instance, a Druid should try to position their Glyphs close to their primary damage points, however, you may also want to be sure to place them near the most critical damage nodes too.

Leveling

The item upgrader kit upgrade system allows players to boost the power of certain items by introducing upgraded components. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level which determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be leveled to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of item requires different components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab of the crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and once enough are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When the player upgrades an item, the base item is replaced by a new item of the same kind. This means that the same armor piece will become the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item will also have its own set bonus. This could be a disadvantage in that the item could increase in price even if you don't need it.

Upgrades to items can be rerolled, provided that the player has enough tokens to be able to do so. This causes the item to be traded for a new one, which will have a level 1 base and a different set of bonus bonuses. This can be beneficial but it should not be repeated often since it can be a waste of resources.

Certain upgrades can increase their value and allow players to personalize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants a buff if the player is repeatedly in or exits water. It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time increasing the max roll by a factor of 10. This item upgrade is highly important in PvP. A perfectly rolled version could be worth 50 times the value of its unupgraded counterpart.

Requirements

The ability to upgrade items allows players to increase the level of their available gear--armor, weapons and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate items and currency to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces improve the strength of their base defense and upgrades to weapon items boost their base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception of hero gear that can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Every time you upgrade an object, it has a chance of failing. The probability of failure increases when you exceed the maximum number. Failures can cause the item to revert to its original state, which will force the user to spend more money on materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.

If an item is not upgraded the experience bar in the bar for growth will be reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it earned, such as the chance to crit, attack damage, or other effects (such as an increase in healing over time, or reloading speed). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that, should a weapon gain an increase in its crit chance it will be applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the item's definition and the value is calculated each time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The upgrade items cost for non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a standard equipment item could have five upgrades at a cost of 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Opportunity. Hero quality items are less expensive per upgrade.

Premium items could require different upgrades than standard gear. For example they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. The player will still need to bring each piece of gear they wish to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade of equipment requires different amounts of upgrade ingredients in addition to the costs that are listed above.
